Memru Renjaan (a.k.a Memrox)

The beginning of…
At the age of seven inspired by the movie "La Bamba" Memru Renjaan started to play guitar. By listening to all kinds of different music styles, he has become a guitar player and composer with an own style. This own style was appreciated because at the age of seventeen, Memru won the ´Dutch National Guitar Awards´ by playing a song he wrote titled "Travel with angels" in 1999.
The jury included professionals like:

Noel Redding (bass player Jimi Hendrix Experience)
Michael Angelo
Rene Shuman
Leonardo Amuedo
Harry Sacksioni
Marcel Singor

They awarded him as the best guitar player of the Netherlands 1999. Shortly after winning the awards things really started to work out.

The story continues…
In 2000 Memru (17 years old) performed at ´Muriel Anderson´s Allstar Guitarnight´ during the NAMM show in Los Angeles with names such as:
Victor Wooten (Bela Fleck and the Flecktones)

After his performance he was invited several times to come back to the ´Allstar Guitarnight´ and he shared the stage with:
Hiram Bullock

In 2001 Memru visited the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Steve vai, B.B. King, Quincy Jones were former students, just to name a few. The Berklee College of Music found Memrox´s level of talent and musical promise very high and therefore he won a scholarship to attend Berklee. Out of 400 excellent guitar players, he won the award "In Recognition of Outstanding Musicianship".
In 2003 he was invited to do some clinics for DW-drums with the amazing drummer Tony Royster Jr (Jay-Z, Alicia Keys and more) and excellent bass player Jon Reshard. They are seen as a powerful combination of three young talented and amazing musicians.

Memru lived in The States for a while. During that time he played with musicians like Josh Paul (Kelly Osbourne, Suicidal Tendencies) Kathy Rose, Zoe Scott and more. Back in the Netherlands Memru is still on track with several projects with rappers, r&b/soul-singers and musicians from bands such as Trijntje Oosterhuis, Alain Clark, Krezip, Stevie Ann, Postman....

Memru also played with Dutch female rockartist Anouk and played at great festivals like Lowlands, Pinkpop, Rock Werchter, Rockin' Park, etc.
